December 24 Christmas Eve - the best time of the year so farMmmm. Grams made some Christmas cookies today. She usually doesn't make any cookies, because of her thoughts of it as being unhealthy and all, but today is Christmas Eve, which makes a difference. We don't have a tree, as usual. But I don't mind, because we have what we have. Grams and I did arrange a place to put gifts though, right near the window. I've already gotten gifts from Grams, Hudson, Lady Lana, Marissa, Dot, Holly+Vera+Meg, Casey(something I never expected), and that's about it. If you didn't count the cute cuddling from Dorito. Grams has gotten present too, from some of her friends. Grams and I got Dorito a special present too, just so he could be included. Grams made great Christmas cookies, and I told her that I loved them so much, that she should make some more sometimes. Grams thanked my compliment and added "Nice try, Sammy. I still won't make cookies often, because I don't want cavities to..." along with more words of the unhealthiness of cookies. I decided to stay indoors today, since it's kind of chilly out there. I've read some books, and watched some Christmas specials on TV. They were pretty good this year too, I must add. We had a nice dinner of fried chicken, from KFC! Grams so hates buying any fried foods, but she let it slide again, just because it's Christmas Eve. Anyways, I better get to sleep soon. Grams is already nagging me right now. But I guess you can't expect too much to happen on Christmas Eve. Anyways, have a Merry Christmas. December 23 Dorito was lost and found!Ohmigosh! My cat, Dorito, is a real fast one. Today, Grams, was cleaning the apartment, because she knows how winter drives rodents indoors and all. She opened the door to sweep some dust out, and Dorito came swooshing out of there so fast, that we didn't have a chance to catch him. He shimmied down the fire escape in the hallway, and by the time I got down there, he was already gone. So I called up Marissa, Dot, and Holly to help search for Dorito. So we bundled up a bit in sweaters and boots, and went out on foot for him. We asked around locals, and the usual reply was, "No". Vera & Meg (owners of the Pup Parlor) didn't see him either. Hudson saw him go past there, but thought it was another cat since he could tell real well. My first thought was oh no, not the cat lady again. The cat lady was somebody from one of my previous mysteries, and she was kinda crazy, lived alone in a house, with tons of cats. At the end of the mystery though, she turned out to be a bit more sane than I thought, so I kinda respect her. Kinda. Anyways, I took up some courage and rang her bell. A few seconds later:
"Caroline! Can you wait a moment, will ya? Let me answer the stupid door to whoever it is." She steps out. "Yeah, what is it?" She looks at me a bit, and remembers who I am.
"Oh, you're that girl that rescued my cat! So what do you want?"
I go, "Have you seen my cat? Remember, Dorito, with the calico cat that I brought here last time?"
She says, "Humph, I didn't steal your cat if that's what you're thinking."
I go quickly, "No, I wasn't saying you stole him, but maybe you saw him. Did you see any new cats this some hours ago?"
Cat lady says, "Well, I guess I did brought in another one to the family today. I even gave it a hair-do. I didn't think it was your cat though."
Cat Lady goes in, some screeching, and growls happen, and she returns with Dorito, looking like a fluffball.
"What did you do with him! He looks hideous!" I cried.
"Hideous? I thought I gave him one of the best hair-dos of my life. I just finished about 20 minutes ago."
I was too stunned to speak for a few seconds. Marissa kicked me a little to bring me back to Earth.
"Ok, maybe it's not so bad. (yeah, right) Just let me take him home now. My family has been missing him. It was nice meeting you again."
"No tip? Oh, just take your cat." She closes the door, without a good bye
We take Dorito to the Pup Parlor, and Holly, along with Meg and Vera give fix Dorito up with a better look. A much better look. All on the house, since Meg and Vera are Holly's somewhat adopted parents. Maybe Dorito doesn't still quite look quite right, but it's better than making and pasting tons of cat posters all over town again. Maybe I should have kept the ones I made last time. Oh well. Anyways Dorito is found, and still availiable for the holidays.
December 20 Sorry I haven't been posting lately - too many exams in 3 daysSorry I haven't been posting lately. It's just that I've been studying for the exams so much, that it's hard to concentrate on writing my little life stories on the web for people to read. Especially when I'm so cramped for time. I do admit that I write on MySpace more than I do here, but I do like WLS a bit more better than MySpace sometimes. It's just that so many of my friends have MySpace, that it's kind of difficult to write on a whole different platform like WLS and expect readers. Well, anyways, the exams went by, and weren't too hard as I expected. 6 periods divided by 3 days, with 2 per day. Here's how it went:
Monday:
Tuesday:
Wednesday:
Today was a 1/2 day, so we went home right at 11:30 AM, and all said our goodbyes since the next 2 weeks is our winter break! I'll miss everybody though. I just wish I knew all my grades right now. We come back on January 4. I hope everybody has a wonderful Christmas, or any holiday, and a Happy New Year! December 15 SMHS 49 - Westcott High 38 : We won!We won today's game! We beat Westcott High School by 11 points! It felt great to beat them. I remembered during the 3rd quarter, Melissa gave an awesome pass to Roxie, and Roxie gave an almost as awesome pass to Jackie. Jackie shot from the 3 pointer line and scored. I did pretty ok too, and gave the team about 8 points. To tell you the truth, the b-ball player at WHS are pretty lame. I think their school hasn't won the district championships since 1989. That's pretty long ago. The last time Santa Martina High won the district championship was in 2001. They aren't that bad, it's just that they don't seem to function as a team real well. Although they do have some good key players. I guess you can say the SMH b-ball players are pretty ok in truth. We're not at the top All-Stars, but we're definitely far from being at the very bottom. Basketball is fun, but I'm really more of a softball player. I just decided to do basketball this year, to just try something new. But once softball season comes, I'll be so ready to go. Basketball is fun, but I love softball way more. Anyways, after winning, Mrs. Garcia took the whole team out to the ice cream shop, and we got some great ice cream. I got a cone with 1 scoop of banana pie, and chocolate. It was a great day today, but I'll be worried next week when the final exams start running. It's gonna make me so worried. But for right now, I'm just happy. December 11 Santa Martina High - 43 Jefferson High School - 54My team lost! During the 1st and 2nd quarter, we were doing so great! Megan tossed the ball around like a real pro. Even I was doing great during the 1st half. But Jefferson started beating us at the 3rd quarter. I wish Diana didn't miss that very easy shot, or Tiana tripping over her shoelaces. During the 4th quarter, we knew we were sunk. We tried our best, but we only scored 10 more points on that one. In all, I made 7 points. At least I did mediocre. I saw Jake there. I don't know if he noticed me or not. I think he glanced at me once. But I'm still not sure. At least he didn't see me as a loser during this game. Our next game will be AT Santa Martina High, and we'll be playing against Westcott High School on December 15 at 5:30 PM. Be there! I love helping out at the soup kitchens downtown! Some people think that helping out at the soup kitchens downtown is really dreadful, and is just a punishment. But it's not. I go there at least once a week to help out. Although I'm doing twice a week since it's the December holidays. I go there not because I'm punished, and have to go, but I go there because I truly want to help out. Whenever I serve a ladle or spoon of something, I feel really sad for the poor homeless people. I just wish they could find jobs and live a better life. Sure, there are some lazy ones, that really don't deserve it. But I know a some good, honest people that really can't find jobs, and are suffering because of it. I always give a smile, and a greeting when I serve the food. Sometimes, they don't care much, while others get a smile on their face. The food seems ok to me, although I'm not sure since I've never ate it. But it looks decent, and sometimes good. The aroma of the nice Soup Sundays, with the sound of chatter in the air, seem like a great feeling in you. I wish more people could volunteer though. Especially teens my age. But I know it's not easy for everyone to take time to go do things like this. With football, band, volleyball, tutoring, and about every club, team, and other social activities butting into our lives that we have to give up some things. Even I'm doing so hard, with practicing during Basketball, and doing my studies, but going to the kitchens bring me away from the hustle and bustle of life, to a setting of more sincerity. So just volunteer, and help out people other than yourself. December 08 It's been 2 days since my b-dayI had a very nice b-day. I turned 15, got hugs and greetings from friends. It was a great day. sorry, I haven't written lately. It's just that I have so much to do, that writing here(and my MySpace) is so hard. I got a neat game I've been wanting called Diner Dash:Flo on the Go (http://zone.msn.com/en/root/deluxe.htm?code=11199177&RefID=01-11199177). It's pretty cool. You should try the free demo version on that link. I got a brand new glow-in-the-dark basketball, which I love a whole lot. It glows a mix of light green and light blue. Now I can play on the court with my friends in the evening. Grams got me a new sweater(which I happen to really like this time!) and $75! Now maybe I can find a way to make some more cash to get a Zune player. Then I can enjoy Zuning songs with my friends. There is nothing like being with the "in-crowd" than doing what they do. Ok, maybe I'm not that shallow, but I like the Zune just as itself. Zunes are really seeming to be a trend here in central California. My mom gave me another promise she'll try to visit for Christmas, but she probaly won't. I know it. If she does somehow, she'll probaly bring bad news. She also gave me $100 bucks! I mean wow! I know her acting career is doing so well right now, but $100? Maybe mom is trying to show that she cares about me more. Or she's gaining sucess. Anyways, that's all that seems pretty important right now. December 03 The Island - one of my favorite movies ever!I just watched "The Island" with my friend Melissa. Her brother recommended we watch it, after there was nothing to watch on Melissa's 500 channel satellite service. So we gave it a try. It was awesome. Jordan and Lincoln (the 2 main characters) discover that they are clones of real people and are made (along with everybody else) just so that they can be killed sometime, when the rich people need vital parts. They run away, and want to tell the whole world the awful truth. They get chased around Los Angeles by the Black Hawk team, hired by the head hancho of the place, to bring them back, before they tell the truth. They finally manage to get Lincoln's real person, and try to tell him what happens there. He promises to get them to NBC studios to broadcast their story. He takes Lincoln (and leaves Jordan) to NBC, where he pulls out a gun. Jordan at the same time discovers he took a gun with him. Lincoln knows he got double-crossed. They have a scuffle, and the B H team meets them, but are confused as to who is the real person. Lincoln manages to put his I.D. bracelet on the real person's wrist, and the team shoots the real person. Lincoln acts like the real guy, and manages to get to the house. Jordan is about to kill him ( because she think it's the mean guy) but Lincoln prove he is who he is to her, and they start having sex. Then they decide to break into the instiute to rescue the other clones (agnates). Lincoln has to go get another check (to get another agnate done) and Jordan rings up the card, to get purposely caught. At the institue, Lincoln knocks out one of the doctors and steals his uniform. Jordan is getting ready for her parts to be taken out, and pulls out a gun. She order the doctor and the guard to get down, and she steals the doc's uniform, and the guard's key. J & L meet, and gets ready to do battle. At the same time, some guys discover that it's the "Lincoln" they shot is the real one, and the one right now is fake. Security finds the 2 and they split up. Jordan goes to save a group of agnates from death, and Lincoln goes to shut off the reactors (the powerhouse). Jordan tries to stop 2 guys who led a group of agnates intp a death machine, and orders them to stop. The head of the Black Hawk team, turns to good, and helps her out. Lincoln and Merrick have a scuffle where Merrick dies. Lincoln shuts off the reactors, and now the agnates discover their reality. They start running, with the officials of the place trying to stop them, but they are outnumbered. The agnates rush out into the sweet sunshine and fresh air and celebrate their freedom. J & L start kissing, and the Black Hawk guy smiles. The End.
I loved this move because it shows how 2 people try to save their people, and the wrongs of killing clones. I also liked some of the cool effects, especially when their chase around L.A. turns the city into a disaster, with broken buildings, crashed cars, and anything that got destroyed by the Black Hawk team. It's also cool, that it's set in the future, and you can see a lot of cool tech stuff, like a cool desktop(a real desk) OS, the sleek, simple, modern looks of the institute, and it's just amazing. If the future looked as cool like that, I wouildn't mind living at the complex (if there weren't people going to take my body parts out) it's a neat vision and great story. But I heard that critics gave it bad reviews when it came out (summer 2005), and they said the storyline was confusing, and it was also just action, no story) I disagree a whole lot, and think it was a good movie. Phew, I know this was a really long post, but I just had to share that movie. December 02 My b-day in 4 more days!My birthday is in 4 more days! December 6 on Wednesday, I will be 15! I love my winter holiday. Britany Spears is born on Dec. 2,(which is today), Emily Dickenson on Dec. 10, and Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg are born on Dec. 18, just to name a few. They are also Sagittarius. I love the winter snow, but in my region of California, we never get them. I also love the many holidays of Christmas, like Hanukah, Kwanza, Korean New Year, Three King's Day, and my best of all, Christmas. The cold weather makes me cheerful, with all the glow of holiday lights, cheery people, cloudy skies, and the breathtaking temperatures. I just wish the boy I liked knew. There's this boy I like a whole lot, but I'm kinda scare to tell him. My friend Marissa keeps pestering me to ask him, but I have to admit I'm chicken. She's always so into people's relationships, and wants me to tell him, or she'll do so herself. Of course she's kidding, but she probaly sounds serious enough to do it. She's my friend of course and would never do that. I just wish he knew me more. But I'll talk about the boy I like in another post. For my birthday, I really want a Zune. I've heard some friends at school talk about it, and they seem interested enough to buy one. I've looked at them too, and my eye bugs out at the $249.99 cost. Unfortunately they only have a 30 GB model, so that's the only Zune there is. But I do really like it. I love the cool UI, and some of the other things you'll never find on a ipod. I currently have a pink iPod nano, and it's ok. I bought it about a year and a half ago, and now it doesn't seem nice anymore. I think it got worse somehow. Now the sound quality is kinda horrible, and I'm really getting tired of buying songs on iTunes. I want something different. I want a Zune. I really want a white Zune, because brown just doesn't seem appealing enough to me, and the black isn't sexy looking enough, if it were really shiny though, maybe. But I like the white color. It really looks more clean, and I'll find a cool slipcover for it. But so far, my grandma says that she doesn't have enough cash to do so, and doubts if she can actually buy one(by the way, I live with my grandma, because my mom is always doing some wacky actress deals in Hollywood, and I don't know a thing about the wherabout of my dad). Oh well. I could just wait until next year of course. Or earn it myself. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Marissa already has bought a white one (because her parents are super rich) and loves it. She just wish they sold video on the Zune marketplace though. Her brother already figured how to convert some video files she had for the Zune, so she does have something to watch, which is nice. A card, or a simple hug would be nice too. I also really want Steve, the boy I like. I guess time will tell. I made my first space today!I usually have a MySpace, but a friend recommended I should also try using a Live Space, so I'm trying. So far I really like Live Spaces. It does look a whole lot nicer. Some of the controls are really nifty. It has everything I need to make a great space. Although I do wish there was more. I wish there was more customization in it. Like putting a picture as the whole background, and some other stuff. I'll be using both my Live Space and my MySpace. I'll try to put the same exact posts in each one to be fair. So right now, I'm gonna make some more adjustments to make this "my space"! :) |
